LANGUAGE LEARNING STYLES AND STRATEGIES

Styles and strategies give potential to students’ abilities.  There are a great quantities of learning styles that could be the way our students learn. Some of those are visual. In this, the students can acquire knowledge easily. For this style images are something that we can not forget. Other is Auditory, where the student learn trough the interactions with others and representing. And finally, we have the kinesthetic and tactile style. Here the student needs to touch, to feel, to see. The personality factors involves if the students are or not introverted or extraverted, if they prefer theory or facts.

About the strategies, we need to take into account that the strategy has to be planned according to what we are going to do and think about some of our students in particular and do the activities for their correct learning. Teachers and students need to be aware about the aim we have with the use of any strategy. Each activity needs to have an clear objective, clear instruction for its correct development. So it is necessary to have cleared where we want to get and what we want to obtain from the class.


In this reading, we can find a lot of really good points for taking into account when we want to define strategies that we should use in a classroom where we have variety of personalities and learning styles. Using all these descriptions, we can make the students knowledge acquisition more effective and meaningful for them, change the routine of our class and make the students have fun.

EFFECTIVE TEACHING-LEARNING


Teachers have a very important role inside and outside the school. All students should have good bases. Principally, preschool kids need to develop a lot of abilities guided by our knowledge and our experience. For that reason as teachers we need to be effective in what we teach and in the way we do it.

Some years ago, I had an experience with my mathematics teacher when I was in 10th grade. I could not do an exercise completely so she hit the board with her hand. That was a terrible experience that caused my rejection towards that subject for all my life.  

In case of English, Most of the students are not interesting in learning English. What is happening? It is our challenge to change the way students see the subject. Maybe, they see English like something extremely difficult and they do not understand anything but it is because teachers do not know how to teach English in a proper way, for example the way of teaching English is not the same way of teaching mathematics, at all.

I decided not to do that kind of things with my students. I prefer to use other strategies for getting better at my class and my relation with the students. We must create our new system to do a funny subject and I think to do classes more interactive where they can do more than fill an exam or guides.   


I think when we are teachers we have a great responsibility not only with the students but also with the society because through our topic we can teach much more than English.
